De Cotta Law Opens New Coin Office with party attended by Vice Consul Rosslyn Crotty, MBE

De Cotta Law has today officially opened its new office in Coín, marked by a party attended by local clients and associates of the firm.

The event, hosted by Coín partner, Jon Sutton (pictured left) was also attended by Vice Consul Rosslyn Crotty, MBE (pictured second from left).

The party was also attended by members of the Royal British Legion Coín branch, also in the picture.

The British Consulate is holding an open event on 15^th June 2011 in Alhaurin el Grande, to offer advice on some of the issues that matter most to British people living in Spain.

 

As a British resident in Spain, you will be able to find out more about:

 

• The services offered by your Consulate
• Your pension and benefit rights and responsibilities as a resident in another European country
• How to register for healthcare and where to apply for your European Health Insurance Card

 

In addition, there is the chance to pre-book a one-to-one appointment with a member of Consular staff, the Pension, Benefit and Healthcare Team or with a Property Advisor if you have a specific query to put to the team.

Reception for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the British Community at the residence of the British Ambassador in Madrid

Sandra Wrightson and Vera Liprandi were delighted to attend a reception for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the British Community at the residence of the British Ambassador in Madrid. It was a great occasion and also provided a valuable opportunity to meet many of the British and Spanish people who do voluntary work for the British community.

The Nerja Anglican Church Christmas Carol Service was a great success - attended by over 200 Nerja residents

Yesterday's Carol Service at St Michael’s Church ('Iglesia de San Miguel') in Nerja was a great success. Organised by the Naomi Diestro, of local law firm sponsors  De Cotta McKenna y Santafé , in conjunction with the Reverend Geoff Johnston, Priest in Charge of the Anglican Parish of Nerja and Almuñécar, the service was attended by over 200 people from the local Nerja community and heralded the start of the Christmas season in the town.

The carol service included:

• Rosslyn Crotty. M.B.E. British Vice Consul as one of the readers
• Reverend Geoff Johnston, leading readings and choirs
• 'O Holy Night' sung by The Tropical Tones Barber Shop Choir  
• ‘Silent Night’ solo sung by Elodie Diamond
• J Rutter's ‘Christmas Lullaby’ J Rutter's (Clear in the darkness) sung by the CoraXalia International choir
• Everyone enjoyed mince pies, festive muffins and mulled wine, under the generous supervision of Naomi Diestro
• Over 600 euros was raised for The Sisters of the Good Samaritan for the Nerja Residential Care Home for the Elderly

Successful Granada Event For British Consulate

The British Consulate in Malaga and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) held an open event for British residents at Hotel Capitulaciones, in Santa Fé, Granada on Tuesday 16th April, giving advice on some of the issues that matter most to residents.

The event was held in conjunction with English and Spanish law firm De Cotta McKenna y Santafé. Rob Westwater (pictured on the left, below with the Consul, Steve Jones on the right) and his team from our Granada office of De Cotta law were available throughout the event, dealing with legal questions and queries from guests.

The DWP provided essential information on UK pensions, benefits and healthcare entitlements in Spain and the services that their team offer.

The British Consul, Steve Jones opened the session and explained the role of the Consulate, which has initiated a number of new services. This was followed by presentations by both the DWP and the Royal British Legion.  Members of the Consulate team were available throughout the event, answering individual queries and questions after the formal presentations.

Guests also enjoyed canapés and drinks (provided by De Cotta McKenna y Santafé) and were able to ask questions in an elegant and informal environment and network with others from the Granada area.
